Box-ing Day with Minster Law

Award-winning legal practice Minster Law has partnered with us since December 2017.  Over the last 4 years their team have donated thousands of hours of their time in our warehouses and on our vans, enough quality furniture to kit out all three of our centres and the funds needed to operate two essential vehicles.  The freezer & chilled vans they provide have enabled us to physically deliver £1.7 million worth of surplus food over the last 48 months, enabling 2.3 million additional meals.  This has so far benefitted 125 of the vital frontline organisations we serve across Yorkshire

This December we had teams from Minster Law committing a day of their time to ensure our warehouse operations could cope with the seasonal surge in frontline demand.  By sorting cages and pallets of food, logging on our database, organising chillers, and ultimately picking and packing orders, they’ve made a huge difference to our warehouse teams.

Over in our Yorkshire Storage HUB (YSH), a team of 17 Minster Law colleagues spread out across 4,000 sq. ft. of warehouse to assemble 18 whole pallets of Christmas Hampers in a single day.  Each contained a mix of cupboard essentials like tinned meals and kettle foods, along with Christmas treats and a box of fresh fruit & vegetables.  These 800+ boxes went to hundreds of people in acute need across Leeds during Christmas week.

Minster Law have made a huge difference this December as we face more disruption than ever before.  The health crisis has naturally affected our staff and volunteers. and the haulage crisis has affected both the quantity and variety of food being intercepted.  We are immensely grateful for the support of the whole Minster Law team for believing in and backing us to deliver our mission.

FareShare Yorkshire CEO Gareth Batty said “We are immensely grateful for the support of Minster Law and its team not just at this Christmas time but all throughout the year. We are proud to be able to work in partnership to support our work accross Yorkshire.”

270,000 tonnes of perfectly edible food gets wasted by the food industry each year.

That’s enough for nearly 650,000,000 meals
