The Big Give Christmas Challenge returns!

We are so grateful to be partnering with Big Give again this Winter, as we launch the 2023 Christmas Challenge.

This year, we’re focusing on intercepting more surplus food during the Winter, which includes pushing through complications like the Cost of Living Crisis. Just like our last Big Give initiative, donations will be match-funded, this year by Minster Law. The Helen and Michael Brown Charitable Trust is the chosen charity to be the champion funder.

Our main three aims for the campaign are: sourcing, storing and distributing. The monies raised during Big Give Week will go towards this, for throughout the season and beyond.

We fear that this Winter will be our most difficult, with the organisations we support facing hardship from the ongoing national crises. For every community food member that we serve, we need an average of 4 to 6 tonnes of food each year. Your support will enable us to travel further, work more hours, store more food and ultimately feed a lot more people in need.

It will also not only mean that we can provide the organisations we already support with a larger variety, but we’d be able to open the doors and support more.

The Big Give Christmas Challenge runs from 28th November – 5th December. If you would like to support FareShare Yorkshire during Big Give Week, click here.

270,000 tonnes of perfectly edible food gets wasted by the food industry each year.

That’s enough for nearly 650,000,000 meals
