We are pleased to announce that we have been nominated for Charity of the Year at the Proud of Barnsley awards.
The awards, hosted by the Barnsley Chronicle, showcase the true spirit of Barnsley. From charities and fundraising groups, to schools and carers, there are many categories highlighting heart-warming stories, hardworking organisations and young champions.
For 23 years, FareShare Yorkshire have been using surplus food to support hundreds of frontline charities. Over the last 5 years alone, the staff and volunteers have provided 500 different community food members with enough food for an estimated 20 million meals, all by preventing its waste when it became surplus to requirements.
FareShare Yorkshire plays a central role in co-ordinating food aid and access across Barnsley by hosting Barnsley Foodbank Partnership and Good Food Barnsley.
We also operate our own food collection lorries, training programmes, training kitchen and a dedicated service for frozen surplus foods.
