Salvation Army – Parkgate Corps: Helping families and individuals in need.

Salvation Army (Parkgate Corps) are a food bank, handing out emergency food parcels in Rotherham. They assist individuals and families with food support, which they say is rising due to the Cost of Living Crisis.

They receive an array of ambient food items from FareShare Yorkshire, which they include in their parcels, including; cereals, soup, pasta, hot drinks, cooking sauces and tinned meat. By including a variety of this stock in their parcels, Salvation Army PC are able to ensure those that are receiving them can turn the wonderful items into scrumptious meals for them and their families.

Salvation Army PC work tirelessly to ensure they are providing the utmost support to their beneficiaries.

A spokesperson said:

“People are always so grateful for the emergency food support. We gave out almost 60 parcels in one month recently and the number of requests for food parcels is rising. FareShare Yorkshire are very helpful and we couldn’t meet the demand without our deliveries.”

270,000 tonnes of perfectly edible food gets wasted by the food industry each year.

That’s enough for nearly 650,000,000 meals
