Feeding Yorkshire. Changing Lives.
We are Yorkshire’s largest and longest-serving food redistribution charity. For 28 years, we’ve rescued good-quality surplus food and redistributed it to charities and community groups across Yorkshire. Today we serve hundreds of charities each week, from hospices and homeless shelters through to refuges and soup kitchens. We provide organisations with food to continue their vital work.
Join us to transform surplus food into real impact across Yorkshire!
The need is rising. Between April 2025 and March 2026, our Yorkshire team redistributed 2,270 tonnes of surplus to hundreds of organisations, enabling 103,000 meals each week and supporting around 44,000 people, and demand continues to grow.
Your support helps us source, store and deliver more high‑quality surplus, and maintain the refrigerated fleet, fuel and cold‑chain capacity that keep Yorkshire fed.

Real stories of impact
Behind every tonne is a community that’s been held together.
FareShare Yorkshire is an absolute lifeline for our organisation and we wouldn’t be able to deliver our projects or support the hundreds of hungry people we feed each week.”
– Edlington Community Organisation
Working with FareShare Yorkshire means so much to us and the families we support. It’s more than just food… it’s hope, dignity, and a sense of community.”

How you can help:
1. Give financially
Financial support enables us to grow our impact and respond to rising demand.
Donations from individuals, businesses, trusts and foundations help more food to reach more charities across Yorkshire. Each November, donations can be match-funded through the Big Give Christmas Challenge, doubling the impact.
Every contribution helps keep Yorkshire fed. To donate today, please visit our Localgiving page.
2. Share surplus food
Food businesses play a vital role in tackling hunger and waste together.
Over the last eight years, we have collected surplus food equivalent to 10 million meals. We work with food and drink producers and distributors across the North of England, collecting quickly and handling food to commercial standards. Clear impact reporting shows meals delivered, charities supported and environmental savings.
For surplus food partnerships, please contact Jonathan Williams, Chief Executive Officer, at jonathanwilliams@fareshareyorkshire.org
3. Give your time
Volunteers are vital to our work
By driving a delivery van one morning a week, volunteers help distribute food equivalent to 120,000 meals a year.
Corporate team days at our Leeds or Barnsley centres help prepare food for 8,000 – 10,000 meals in a single day.
We provide PPE, training and support.
